Hello! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my blog.

I’m a British born, 20 something single, Bangladeshi Muslim girl; currently working and living in London.

I’m at a stage of my life where I feel lost.

Growing up in the UK with two significantly contradicting cultures was not easy and has left me feeling confused and frustrated.

On one hand I am trying to be the good Bengali daughter; following the way of life of a good Muslim to the best of my abilities and conforming to the societies interpretation of the Bangladeshi culture. But on the other hand, I have studied and worked hard in the pursuit of becoming a career woman, living and working in London away from my family.

I have been lucky in my life to have had some great opportunities that your typical Bangladeshi girl may not have even dreamt of, but it has left me wanting more. I have friends from all over the world who have been a huge positive influence on my life. I have learnt so much from them and they inspire me to continuously broaden my mind and learn about other cultures too.

However, for a long time now I have felt like I am living two lives and I have got to the point where I am just exhausted from trying to please all. There are so many things a Muslim girl goes through that people are unaware of. I’m not going to lie, it has been a struggle for me. It tends to be the case of  ‘what I want to do’ vs ‘what I should do’.

So I decided to create this blog to give myself a platform to air all the issues and discuss topics that come up in my life.

I’m aware there are many blogs out there who are probably already doing this, but all of these opinions are mine. There may be some people out there who disagree with me or others who agree. Maybe those people are going through similar things.

For the purposes of this blog, I’ve decided to keep it anonymous. I hope you can understand how difficult it would be for me to reveal my name, especially due to the power of social media these days. So if you need to, please refer to me as Culture Clash.
